Girls' Day Out: A Ladies-Only Picnic

Blogger Cyd Converse of The Sweetest Occasion put together a fun and feminine picnic for her and her best girlfriends, reminiscent of the kind she used to go on as a young girl. She used products from the Martha Stewart Americana line at Macy's to create a festive and simple get-together along with delicious recipes.

Setting the Scene

My first picnic memories involve my third-grade best friend and I packing a white wicker basket and heading into her grandmother's backyard for our girls-only lunch. The spirit of that long-ago picnic inspired me to host a pretty picnic for some of my best girls, loaded up with all the things ladies love. Think pretty flowers, food that looks as good as it tastes, good wine, lemonade, and an afternoon spent at one of my favorite parks, talking and enjoying the sunshine.

The Menu

For the menu, I went with dishes that to me represented classic picnic foods, but with an unexpected twist like the tomato-pimenton deviled eggs and fresh pea hummus.

They were a huge hit and the awesome red, white and blue bowls were perfect for tucking away leftovers and sending them home with each of my girls. Picnics are one of my favorite excuses to get together with friends, and I can't wait to do it again soon!
