materials

  • Flexible clay mold or wax seal

  • Polymer clay

  • Craft knife

  • Rubber gloves

  • Cookie cutters

  • Fine-point tool

steps

  1. If using a mold, fill with clay then shave away excess clay with craft knife until it's flush with mold. If using a wax seal, like the tree, press clay into the seal, then use craft knife to shave away excess clay until flush with metal.

  2. Refrigerate for 20 minutes; invert and wiggle mold to free silhouette, or use the tip of knife to pry it out.

  3. Center silhouette on 1/16-inch-thick base, and press lightly into place (wear rubber gloves to prevent fingerprints).

  4. Cut out border shape with a cutter, create a hole with pointed tool, and bake.

  5. Refrigerate for 20 minutes, pry tree from seal with knife and proceed with steps 1 to 4.

  6. Add a jump ring to make a pendant.
