Strawberries and Vanilla Syrup

As delicious as a bowl of just-picked strawberries are for dessert, tossing them in a simple vanilla syrup sweetened with fruit juice and a little sugar is a wonderful, quick way to make them special.

  • Servings: 4


  • 1 cup white grape juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced
  • Mint leaves, for garnish


  1. In a small saucepan, combine the juices, sugar, and vanilla bean and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer 15 minutes, or until the liquid is reduced by half.

  2. Stir in the strawberries, remove from the heat, and divide among 4 dessert goblets. Garnish with mint leaves and serve.
