New Year's Eve Champagne Cocktail

New Year's Eve Champagne Cocktail

In lieu of plain Champagne, we like to ring in New Year’s Eve by serving a classic drink with vintage flair: the Champagne cocktail. Crafted from just four ingredients (with no shaking or stirring required), the Champagne Cocktail is simple to make and lends itself to DIY cocktail composing for your guests. When we are hosting, we like to set out sugar cubes, coils of lemon zest, and bitters alongside chilled Champagne, and allow our friends to build their cocktails themselves. Here are the five easy steps for making the perfect Champagne cocktail:

SugarCubes

Step 1:

Place one white sugar cube in the bottom of a glass.

Step 2:

Add 4-5 dashes of aromatic bitters. We like to fill a small serving bowl with bitters and let guests spoon the spicy liquid over the sugar for a beautiful effect.

Lemon Zest

Step 3:

Add a strip of lemon zest. We use coils of zest that release loads of the essential oils of the lemon rind, which then perfume the finished cocktail.

Step 4:

Add Champagne to fill the glass. To keep things fun, we love offering our guests a combination of traditional glass Champagne coupes and vintage teacups -- most of our friends go for the teacups!
