Melt and Pour soap base, in Clear, $3 a lb., brambleberry.com
Cylinder silicone baking mold, $10, nycake.com

Add this crocheted loofah along with the soaps to make a hostess gift she is sure to remember.

Materials

  • Glycerin soap base
  • Microwave-safe 4-cup glass measuring cup
  • Food coloring
  • Essential oils (optional)
  • Silicone baking mold or metal muffin tin
  • Spray bottle
  • Rubbing alcohol

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Cut glycerin into cubes; place in measuring cup. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds; stir. Repeat until smooth throughout.

  2. Step 2

    Tint with 8 to 10 drops of food coloring. Stir to mix thoroughly. For scent, sparingly stir in essential oils.

  3. Step 3

    Pour glycerin into mold. To minimize bubbles on top, use spray bottle to spritz surface with alcohol. Let sit 4 hours. (If using a metal tin, put in freezer.) Remove from mold.
