Halloween is all about trying on a new identity for a night, and thankfully there's no age limit on dressing up. So whether you're trick-or-treating with the kids, handing out candy, or heading out for a night of grown-up fun, these Halloween costumes will virtually guarantee you a ghoulishly good time.
Channel a nature goddess vibe with a crownlike array of artificial butterflies seemingly fluttering around your face and perched on your arms.
Invite a creepy bird to make its nest on your head and lay a few mysterious eggs. To create the nest, use a hot-glue gun to affix Spanish moss, found in crafts stores, to a cotton skullcap. Next, add feathers and plastic quail eggs to the moss, securing them with hot glue. To attach the bird, first place the hat on your head, and balance the bird on top (you may need to remove its legs for proper fit). When you're happy with the arrangement, carefully remove the hat and secure.
Other than the hat, canteen, and binoculars (available at camping-supply stores), this Halloween costume can be assembled entirely from items you already own. Think neutral, outdoorsy pieces, such as the safari-style jacket and brown pants shown, and don't forget a pair of sensible shoes.
