Sazerac

  • Yield: Makes 1
Sazerac

Ingredients

  • 1 sugar cube
  • 2 ounces bourbon or rye
  • 4 dashes orange bitters
  • Ice
  • 1/4 teaspoon anise-flavored liqueur
  • 1 lemon twist

Directions

  1. Place sugar cube in a cocktail shaker along with a little water and stir to dissolve. Add bourbon and bitters. Fill with ice, and stir to chill.

  2. Pour anise-flavored liqueur into an old fashioned glass and swirl to coat; pour off excess. Strain bourbon mixture into glass. Rub lemon twist around the rim of the glass (do not add to drink).
